Travel Services Manager

We are seeking a Travel Services Manager that is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Johns Hopkins managed travel program and the expense reimbursement processes enterprise wide. The Travel Services Manager will work closely with various departments to support their travel and expense reimbursement needs and ensure the department provides exceptional customer service.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the online booking tool configuration.
  • Support the day-to-day relationship management of all travel suppliers including contracted travel management companies and other contracted travel suppliers. Monitor key performance indices and address any service or compliance issues.
  • Manage the travel and expense processing team.
  • Administer expense processing system ensuring systems supports all enterprise-wide policies.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify and address non-compliance issues.
  • Support the communication of travel policies as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service to faculty, staff and students regarding travel inquiries and issues.
  • Offer guidance and support for travel and/or expense-related questions and concerns.
  • Develop and distribute travel resources, guides and newsletters.
  • Maintain the travel portal website content.
  • Analyze travel data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Make recommendations for enhancing travel services and reducing costs.
  • Conduct training sessions for faculty, staff and students on travel policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the learning management group to develop and update educational materials and resources to support travelers.
  • Support the socialization of the managed travel program.
  • Support annual hotel RFP and meeting event contracting processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Technical Qualifications and Specialized Certifications

  • Proficiency in travel management and expense processing software.


Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Seven years related experience required.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree

Technical qualifications and specialized certifications

  • Proficiency in travel management and expense processing software.

Starting Salary Range: $46,200 - $80,800 Annually (Commensurate w/exp.)

Total Rewards
The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University's salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications. Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.
