Job Description

This position sits in the Global Banking & Markets division in a role supporting the Real Estate Financing Group. REFG is engaged in the origination and closing of commercial real estate mortgage and mezzanine loans. The primary focus of the role is to serve as a loan closer sitting within an existing 4 person closing team.

Responsibilities



  • Work closely with the REFG deal teams, in-house and outside counsel, clients, brokers, vendors and in some cases co-lenders to manage commercial real estate loan closings.
  • Set up and manage GS Data Room site for each transaction for the collection and distribution of due diligence. Grant appropriate access to various working group members and vendors, move documents to appropriate locations and protect the confidential nature of any information provided.
  • For each transaction, review org chart and determine what information is needed for KYC, AML and all other searches. Interface with client to collect KYC and cascade to various internal counterparties and external vendors as appropriate. Perform internal searches, order external searches and escalate any issues that may arise.
  • Liaise with tax, insurance and flood consultants to order tax analysis, insurance review and flood determination letters for all transactions. Provide consultants with material required to complete their process in a timely fashion.
  • Participate in kickoff and weekly status calls to provide closing and KYC updates to the working group.
  • Prepare the lender statement, collect all invoices and work closely with title, counsel, trading desk and operations to fund and close the loan.
  • Post closing, work with various internal groups to provide them with documentation they need to complete their process. Provide documentation to the servicers, document custodian and final third-party reports to the borrower via data room.

Basic Qualifications



  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar closing role with a commercial real estate lender.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Transactional experience managing CMBS, SASB, balance sheet, mezzanine and bridge loan closings.
  • Experience working across and coordinating with multiple groups simultaneously, both internally and externally, in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
