Work Hours: 2nd shift, Monday-Thursday, 4:00AM-2:40 PM, 10 hours/day
Job Summary: The Maintenance Technician Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing and supporting the daily activities of maintenance technicians during their assigned shift. This role ensures production equipment, systems, and facilities are maintained to minimize downtime and support operational efficiency and safety. Responsibilities:
- Leads and supports a team of maintenance technicians during the assigned shift.
- Assigns tasks and ensures timely completion of maintenance workorders and PM's.
- Monitors shift performance and escalates major issues to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Ensures compliance with safety procedures and company policies.
- Assists with training new technicians and promoting continuous improvement.
- Interacts with CMMS maintenance system for workorders, PM's, breakdowns, along with machine assets, inventory, parts charges, and time logs.
- Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
- Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
- Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
- Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
- Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
- Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment.
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
- Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
- Inspects and troubleshoots any production and building issues as needed.
- Oversees the detailed, daily End of Shift reports (EOS).
- Performs daily workorders, PMs, and responds to break downs from operations.
- Patiently corrects and coaches anyone practicing unsafe work habits into working safely while using the correct PPE.
- Reports to Maintenance Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent GED required.
- 2+ years of experience or technical degree in related field and 3+ years of experience as industrial maintenance mechanic.
- Prior leadership or team lead experience is a plus.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Lathe and mill experience helpful.
- General fabrication skills such as welding (ARC, MIG & TIG), torch, cutting equipment, grinders, and able to follow blueprints.
- Able to obtain and maintain current license for powered industrial equipment as needed.
- Able to perform basic plumbing installation and repairs.
- Able to use mechanical measuring devices and complex testing equipment.
- Able to apply general mechanical knowledge/abilities with ability to troubleshoot.
