ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

TES is hiring a temporary Research Administrator 3 to support the campus operations.

Duration: This role is anticipated to last 6+ months.

Compensation: $35.91 to $41.67 /hour DOE. Eligible for Mid-level Medical Benefits, Vacation, Sick, and Holiday pay.

Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm Hybrid/Remote Flexibility.

Location: Must live in California.

DESCRIPTION

As a key member of the Pathology Fiscal Core Unit, incumbent has responsibility for financial analysis, fiscal management and administration of a full range of extramural grants, contracts, subcontracts, clinical trials funding, and service agreements from complex multiple Grants (direct and indirect).

  • Responsible for major functions and tasks for pre- and post-award administration including investigator eligibility and completeness of all documentation for animal, human subjects, biohazards and radiation use protocols preparation through review and submission of proposal, award management and award closeout.

  • Primary responsibility for the training of new fund manager, fiscal assistant and faculty training on department, university, and agency regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Incumbent is up-to-date on NIH procedural changes as related to online functions, proposal preparation/submission, eRA Commons maintenance, and agency post award requirements.

  • Provide consultative services to department administrators and faculty.

  • Prepare, analyze and summarize faculty compensation and fund management activities for the department.

  • Serve as lead fund manager for pre/post award activities. Conduct analysis, make decisions, and implement execution plan for department faculty compensation functions. Serve as primary backup for the faculty compensation manager.

  • Independently manage salary negotiation worksheets using knowledge of available funding sources, including general funds, contracts and grants and a variety of clinical and non-federal funds for final salary meetings with the Chair for a subset of faculty.

  • Serve as primary backup to faculty comp manager. Incumbent uses high-level technical expertise to successfully solve complex grant- and fiscal-related problems and address faculty concerns.

  • Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research administrator to independently develop and / or oversee research proposals, awards and / or transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies.

  • Works on proposals and awards of diverse scope where analysis of data requires thorough understanding of complex regulations.

  • Completes and approves transactions for signature by manager or other authorized institutional official.

  • Works on complex proposals and awards that may involve multiple investigators and / or multiple sub awards. Guides less experienced staff.

  • Central Role (CR): Is eligible for delegated signature authority (may vary by campus).

  • Department Role (DR): Typically works on complex proposals such as grants / contracts which require task budgets, option years, multiple investigators and multiple sub awards.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous post-award FM experience preferably at UCSD or strong Post-Award in Higher Education.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Three or more years of relevant experience.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Background check, Health Universal Background check and reference checks and clearances are required prior to hiring.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
