About the College/Unit/Department |
The
Hugh Hodgson School of Music (
www.music.uga.edu) is among the leading schools of music in the region and nationally. Home to approximately six hundred students and a faculty of sixty-five, the Hodgson School includes comprehensive programs, with degrees at the undergraduate level through the master's and doctorate. Our celebrated faculty, outstanding facilities, and talented students build a supportive and rich environment for artistic and scholarly growth. Each year the School hosts nearly 350 public performances. Graduates from our programs have been internationally successful in their chosen fields.
The University of Georgia recently inaugurated an undergraduate Certificate in Musical Theatre, open to students majoring in music, theatre, or dance. This exciting new direction for music, theatre, and dance has generated enormous interest and excitement among students and faculty, and will likely lead to further program development in the years ahead. The joint venture is overseen by an inter-disciplinary committee and shares faculty and resources in a collaborative and interdisciplinary way, opening new opportunities for the development of stage talent on our campus.
The
Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, its many units, and the University of Georgia are committed to multidisciplinary research, collaboration, academic innovation, and to sustaining a work and learning environment that is inclusive. |
