POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Employee Relations Specialist will lead efforts related to the FedEx Office Grievance Review process and facilitate resolving disputes brought forward by team members. This position is responsible for the fair and impendent review and resolution to grievances received from Team Members. This includes a thorough review of disputed tangible employment actions which may consists of conducting interviews, data gathering and analysis, and other investigative activities. The Senior Employee Relations Specialist will present their findings, substantiate conclusions and recommend a course of action or remedies if applicable. This position assists in fostering better Company and Team Member relations and acts as a neutral and impartial party in the resolution of grievances. This position also provides a broad range of employee relations support to promote a fair and people-focused environment throughout FedEx Office. Additionally, some HR Advisor duties may also be assigned to this position.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the investigation and resolution of grievances related to employment action such as performance counseling and terminations
  • Collaborate with multiple partners to resolve dispute
  • Communicate grievance resolution to HR business partner, Operations Manager and involved party both verbally and in writing.

  • Assists in the development of overall HR procedures by recommending improvements or changes when deemed necessary for great efficiency.
  • Consults with Human Resources Business Partners on employee relations issues and investigations as needed
  • Develops and maintains various departmental reports
  • Analyzes and presents trends
  • Proactively researches information to ensure compliance, provide appropriate consultation and avoid/timeline exposure to the organization
  • Keeps current with policies and processes across all business groups
  • Responsible for requesting additional information, when necessary
  • Develops and maintains grievance policies and procedures
  • Continuously reviews, recommends and implements improvement steps, as needed or directed
  • Utilize HR metrics to support business objectives
  • Provides input to the Learning and Development team for learning content
  • Coach and educate managers on proper use of performance management and the positive discipline processes
  • All other duties as needed or required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years' experience in Human Resources with generalist level responsibility
  • 2+ years' experience in conducting investigations and or grievances
  • Ability to gather information, clearly document actions taken, organize investigation records and apply appropriate policy or related guidelines
  • Excellent persuasion, negotiation, conflict resolution and collaboration skills
  • Excellent problem solving, relationship building and communications skills
  • Advanced computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • For new hires, must meet all FedEx Office employment qualifications in force at time of hiring
  • For current FedEx Office team members, must meet hiring criteria for the position and transfer requirements as outlined in the Team Member Handbook

  • Ability to travel as required in order to meet with customers, vendors, other team members, and/or other business necessities
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to read and interpret documents and instructions from customers, vendors, and other team members
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other team members
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to perform work activities requiring cooperation and instruction
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to function in a fast-paced environment, under substantial pressure
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to work within the appropriate level of independence
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to report regularly to work and maintain established business hours in order to support the FedEx Office business; regular attendance and/or reporting could include regular attendance at a physical location and/or maintaining established business hours depending on the scope and nature of the position
