ABOUT THE JOB
JPI has an exciting opportunity for a Permit Lead to join our Design for Execution team located in Dallas, TX.
The Permit Lead manages permit acquisition and compliance coordination for assigned projects. Acts as the conduit between AHJs and internal teams, ensuring timely approvals and clear interpretation of regulatory mandates. This role is instrumental in keeping permitting workflows moving and project teams informed. The position will report to the Permit Manager.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities Permit Application & Approval Management
Manage and own the end-to-end permitting process for assigned projects, including tracking milestones and mitigating delays. Engage directly with AHJ representatives to confirm requirements, work with design team to answer questions, and respond to comments. Interpret and clarify agency feedback for design teams; coordinate revisions and resubmittals to avoid rejections or restarts. Develop and implement workflows that improve the speed and accuracy of permit documentation and approvals. Monitor deadlines and approval timelines to prevent schedule impacts and provide visibility to stakeholders. Collect paperwork, submit for approvals and permits, and keep all internal tracking mechanisms up to date with the latest information from AHJ's regarding permit issuance dates Obtain documents from Design and Engineering teams to facilitate the permit application process Obtain all required approvals for permits and act as liaison between JPI and each municipality Maintain all company files relating to site plan applications, approvals, licenses and permits
Compliance & Regulatory Coordination
Stay updated on construction best practices, and evolving AHJ code requirements. Gather, document, and maintain city-specific requirements, including startup procedures, Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO), Certificate of Occupancy (CO), and inspections. Provide clarity on regulatory and operational requirements to support building phasing plans and design processes. Assist project teams in aligning design documentation with jurisdictional mandates and operational needs.
Education, Work Experience, & Physical Requirements
Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, Engineering, or a related field. 5-10 years in permitting, zoning, planning, or regulatory coordination roles. Strong interpersonal and communication abilities. Proficiency in using business software and tools, including MS Office, project management applications, permit tracking systems, Bluebeam, and jurisdictional online portals. Experience in leading permit strategies across multiple authorities and project types. Act as a representative and advocate of JPI's culture and guiding principles 5-day work week (Monday-Friday) Frequent travel to AHJ offices Daily Collaboration
