ACS-CHS Grants Funded Job Summary

Under supervision of the Youth Program Coordinator, The Youth Advisor will work with internal and external partners to improve care provided by Denver Heath Pediatrics at Denver Public schools. The Youth Advisor will interact with other youth to serve as experts and provide a youth voice for program development and improvement, and relay information to our program on a variety of youth related topics. The Youth Advisor will participate in outreach and engagement efforts. This position is grant funded and typically works 10-20 hours a week, depending on projects and schedules. Funding is anticipated through grant timeline, but may end early if funding not available.

Essential Functions:
  • Various activities designed to improve the care provided at School-based Health Centers and the health of our students, including but not limited to: Co-leading student group meetings with an adult partner; Reviewing educational materials used during clinic visits and giving feedback; or Developing content for social media. (25%)
  • Complete administrative tasks as required by department rules; (25%)
  • Provide Youth expertise in various areas, including but not limited to: Program Development and Improvement. Assist in building an organizational culture that values the principals of Positive Youth Development. (25%)
  • Collaborate with other. Attend staff meetings, such as the weekly Administrative Meeting and quarterly All - Staff meeting (when it does not interfere with the Youth Advisors school schedule); and Participate in professional development and mentorship opportunities. (25%)

Education:
  • No High School Diploma and/or No GED High School student or recent High School Graduate Required

Work Experience:
  • less than 1 year

Licenses:

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Demonstrates understanding of basic PC computer programs. Ability to work with diverse youth between the ages of 13-25, and adults. Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, both orally and in writing, using proper spelling, grammar, punctuation with all levels of personnel.
