Unit Overview:

3G/H is a 37-bed telemetry/medical surgical unit specializing in but not limited to orthopedic/neuro/spine patients. This unit is accredited by the JC as a Total Joint Center for Orthopedic Excellence. The unit serves as a secondary stroke unit as well as general cardiac/telemetry patients. The patients are transferred in from PACU, ED, interventional areas, and direct admissions from MD offices.

Shift: Full-time, Days

Position Overview:

Under direction of the Director, the clinical coordinator role assumes entry-level and clinical leadership and accountability for nursing care team operations while maintaining responsibility defined in the RN job description.

As a coordinator, this role provides ongoing coordination of unit level activities supporting excellence in professional nurse practice environment, evidence-based care delivery and related nursing, patient, and family-centered outcomes in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team as identified by the director.

  • This position also serves as a clinical nurse as the individual spends majority of his/her time (>50%) coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities on the unit/clinic through medication administration, provision of nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered communication and education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.
  • Possesses authority and freedom to make nursing care decisions within the full scope of nursing practice.
  • Other responsibilities may include supporting the Director as needed through coordination of the following priorities: nursing care team development, program planning, monitoring financial and human resources, process improvements, unit/clinic staffing plan and daily staffing activities.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Active Kentucky BSN license.
  • BLS, ACLS, and/or other designated unit specific certification training/requirements.
  • 3 years RN experience, 1 yr Charge Nurse experience, or Leadership role required.
