Leader- Environmental Services Associate - Full Time - Days - Detroit, main

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Assists operational management in maintaining a high quality standard by keeping him/her informed on the conditions of the assigned areas and by training, supervising and motivating the environmental services personnel to be sure all schedules are completed.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. The Leader is responsible for adhering to all patient care services standards.
  2. Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, environmental and infection control standards.
  3. Performs all housekeeping related tasks demonstrating service orientation to fellow employees, patients, visitors and hospital staff.


The responsibilities of a Leader may vary. The Leader:



  1. Performs the duties of an Environmental Services Associate I or Environmental Services Associate II as outlined in the job description.
  2. Accepts responsibility for a limited area, shift or task as assigned.
  3. Continuously checks assigned areas to be sure work is being done properly and that personnel are following duty lists and schedules.
  4. Reports any pertinent information to the Supervisor as it occurs.
  5. Instills a serviced-minded approach to all tasks performed by environmental services staff by demonstrating personal enthusiasm and team spirit.
  6. Motivates staff by communicating areas done well and areas needing improvements.
  7. Retrains environmental services personnel as directed by the environmental services management.
  8. Recommends and observed staff coverage at all times by checking sign-in sheet and using personnel efficiently.
  9. Inspects equipment daily to maintain it in clean condition and in good repair.
  10. Maintains good public relations with all patients, facility and staff personnel.
  11. Assumes responsibility for work area in absence of the supervisor or manager.
  12. Assumes responsibility for the quality standard in his/her area.
  13. Enhances job-related growth and development through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  14. Assists supervisor with creating staff work schedules.
  15. Maintains the schedules and timekeeping in Kronos.
  16. Communicates patient concerns, discomfort to appropriate nursing staff if/when communicated by patient or visitors.
  17. Performs all other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 - 3 years prior experience as an Environmental Services Associate II preferred.
