What success looks like in this role: We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer with a deep focus on AWS to join our team and help architect, implement, and manage cloud solutions for our clients. This individual should bring strong consulting experience, ideally with government or public sector organizations, and a demonstrated ability to work in complex, large-scale enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement secure, scalable, and highly available AWS cloud infrastructure. Lead cloud architecture discussions and provide expert guidance on AWS services and best practices. Collaborate with application teams to support cloud adoption, migration strategies, and modernization initiatives. Ensure compliance with enterprise security and governance standards (e.g., IAM, encryption, logging). Provide guidance on cloud cost optimization, performance tuning, and operational excellence. Assist with documentation, training, and knowledge transfer to internal stakeholders or client teams. Act as a trusted advisor to clients, translating business needs into scalable cloud solutions.
You will be successful in this role if you have:
Required Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with 5+ years of hands-on experience in AWS. Deep expertise with core AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, and others. Strong background in cloud architecture, security, networking, and infrastructure design. Demonstrated success working in consulting roles, directly interfacing with external clients. Experience supporting or working with public sector or government organizations. Familiarity with enterprise-level environments including hybrid and multi-account setups. Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, NIST, or HIPAA.
Preferred Qualifications:
AWS Certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect - Professional). Experience with cloud migration projects (on-prem to cloud). Understanding of multi-cloud environments (Azure, GCP) is a plus. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) is a bonus but not required. Exposure to automation or scripting (Python, Bash) is helpful but not mandatory.
