Temporary Researcher (Associate Specialist) for Chemical Engineering

The Chemical Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara is seeking applications for one temporary researcher Associate Specialist position. The position will perform the following job duties:

• Conduct research to directly link the morphology of sperm with its underlying molecular profile. This research will likely require employing the TELD or scSTAMP-seq technology, and profiling the transcriptome of individual sperm using CEL-seq, the methylome using scDyad&T-seq, and chromatin accessibility using scMAT-seq.

• Conduct research to directly understand epigenetic reprogramming during early mammalian embryogenesis using CEL-seq, scDyad&T-seq, and scMAT-seq to gain mechanistic insights into cell fate decisions.

• Prepare drafts of reports and manuscripts in close communication with the PI and collaborators, and present intermediate research results periodically as requested.

• Attend project specific meetings with the PI and collaborators.

Master's degree.

Five or more years of experience demonstrating expertise in bioengineering and biosciences, specifically genomics, epigenomics and single-cell sequencing.

PhD degree with experience in experimental and computational single-cell genomics techniques such as CEL-seq, scDyad&T-seq, scMAT-seq, TELD, scSTAMP-seq and a strong knowledge of stem cell and developmental biology.
