Job Description

Are you a passionate consumer advocate who loves delivering impactful insights? Do you thrive on challenging work and enjoy collaborating with like-minded individuals? The North America Marketing team is seeking a Director for NA Client Research & Insights.

As a team leader reporting to the Sr. Director of NA Insights & Analytics, you will work closely with financial institution and merchant clients, as well as Visa's sales, consulting, analytics, and marketing services teams. You will lead custom research initiatives and generate new insights. Your responsibilities include managing qualitative and quantitative research projects, data analysis, developing presentations, and sharing insights with internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, you will have the ability to triangulate insights from multiple sources to deliver actionable insights and powerful storytelling. This position is based at Visa's headquarters in San Francisco or Foster City, California.

  • 12+ years of market research experience, specializing in comprehensive project management for both qualitative and quantitative studies. Skilled in storytelling and adept at extracting compelling insights from complex data
  • 5+ years of experience managing and mentoring a team of researchers
  • Oversee and drive the success of research initiatives by developing comprehensive research plans, creating thoughtful questionnaires, conducting analysis, and reporting findings. Efficiently manage resources and time to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Consult senior business partners to translate business questions and challenges into research objectives that inform decisions.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in working with complex datasets to derive compelling and actionable insights.
  • Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and data visualization tools.
  • Proven ability to manage and collaborate with both external partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple research projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Strong storytelling skills to effectively communicate research findings and insights.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • You will be a critical member of the Insights & Analytics center of excellence that supports Visa's North America marketing services organization.
  • You're a leader operating according to Visa's leadership principles in every aspect of your role.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of work experience with a bachelor's degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters/ MBA)
  • Prior market research and insights experience, including qualitative and quantitative research is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of work experience with a bachelor's degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA)
  • Master's degree in Consumer Behavior, Psychology, Marketing, Market Research, Sociology, Anthropology, Statistics or in a quantitative field like Economics/Econometrics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or Engineering is preferred. MMR a plus
  • 5+ years of experience managing and mentoring a team of researchers
  • 7+ years' experience managing primary quantitative and qualitative market research, at a large global organization or a leading, globally respected market research agency.
  • Foundational understanding of branding, advertising (traditional and digital), marketing concepts and strategy a plus
  • Background in payments, financial institutions or consumer lending as well as experience from tech, consulting, CPG, retail are a plus but not required
  • Ability to transition easily from a technical research perspective to practical business considerations
  • Demonstrated mastery in uncovering insights with the ability to inspire and influence others to act on insights. Demonstrated success in using research to drive insights and strategic implications that lead to business decisions
  • Strong attention to detail, a sense of urgency, a proactive approach, Excel and PowerPoint power user, strong planner and problem solver. Must display strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to translate analyses into easily digestible stories for senior management consumption. Must be fluent in English

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 194,600.00 to 282,150.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
