Job Description:

The Ancillary Product Consultant support the strategy, design, implementation, and performance optimization of Southwest Airlines' air ancillary products, including bags, boarding products, seat products, and additional offerings such as unaccompanied minors, and pets. This role is responsible for identifying and deploying new ancillary product opportunities and capabilities to enhance Southwest's product portfolio, conducting market research, analyzing product performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive revenue growth and enhance the Customer experience. The Consultant will provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support the development and execution of ancillary product strategies, ensuring alignment with Southwest's overall business objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain an evergreen perspective on market trends and competitive position, leading market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and gaps in the air ancillary product portfolio
  • Contribute to the strategy for owned products, ensuring business resources and execution align to the desired strategy
  • Support the development and execution of strategies for ancillary product growth and evolution
  • Monitor and report out on product performance by tracking key metrics, identifying trends, and recommending data-driven improvements, while driving the development of data and reporting capabilities to support where needed.
  • Partner with Financial Teams to assist in forecasting, reporting, and analysis to support revenue and performance goals.
  • Product owner, responsible for the strategy, design, go-to-market execution, and resulting performance of a discrete set of ancillary products that drive a significant amount of revenue and profit for the Company
  • Collaborate productively with Revenue Management, Finance, Digital, CX, Ops and other cross-functional teams to solve problems related to ancillary product delivery and performance, and ensure cross-functional goals are met
  • Provide analytical support and business case development for new product initiatives or enhancements.
  • Assist in the development and communication of go-to-market strategies and execution plans for new or updated products.
  • Ensure ancillary product offerings align with Customer expectations and operational feasibility.
  • Support ad-hoc research, reporting, and presentations for leadership and key stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholder groups and effectively communicate strategy and analysis.
  • Knowledge of finance and the airline industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize data into actionable insights.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to deconstruct complex problems and develop strategic solutions.
  • Knowledge of product management practices, including product design, mandatory features, and specifications.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Skilled in data visualization and reporting tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present data and insights clearly to leadership.
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
    • Product management, revenue optimization, or strategic business roles
    • Conducting market research and competitive analysis
    • Project management and cross-functional collaboration
    • Data visualization and performance tracking
  • Preferred: Experience with Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or similar data tools

  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $100,700 per year to $111,900 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
