Senior Pricing Actuary How does this role contribute to our collective success?

As part of the Actuarial Pricing Team at AXIS Re US, you will be supporting our North American Casualty Treaty business. Relevant lines of business include Professional Liability, Workers Compensation, General Liability, and Auto. In this role, you will work closely with our underwriters to project the results for individual trading relationships. In addition, you will grow your knowledge of industry trends and incorporate this into your individual treaty pricing work.

What will you do in this role?
  • Treaty Pricing - price standard and complex reinsurance deals for North American Casualty lines of business
  • Perform loss trend studies to support of the One Axis model across both Insurance and Reinsurance divisions
  • Deep dive into market and portfolio data to develop indices and model parameters
  • Collect and validate data from clients to input and process it with AXIS pricing tools
  • Liaise with underwriting to properly understand and reflect the risk
  • Work with Reserving, Claims, and relevant internal departments in sharing knowledge and workflow.
  • Use actuarial methods to estimate expected losses, cash flows, risk aggregations and advise management on technical pricing, and ensure robust economic and actuarial evaluation of commercial agreements
  • Provide actuarial input into portfolio monitoring, business planning, and projections
  • Support development and maintenance of data analytics tools and models
  • Participate in cross functional teams and projects and provide best actuarial practices
  • Participate in client and broker meetings/visits

About You:

What you need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent within Actuarial Science or similar technical field
  • A minimum of 7+ years of experience in treaty pricing at a reinsurance company or broker or large account pricing experience at an insurance company
  • Ideal candidate is a career ACAS to FCAS
  • Specific expertise in certain casualty lines of business
  • Expert level user of MS Office
  • Proficient in at least one programming language such as VBA, C#, R, or SQL

What we offer:

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of 185k to 215k (NY). Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.
