Job Summary:

As the Walsworth - Saint Joseph Print Production Job Planner, you will be responsible for taking job orders submitted by sales representatives and determining the ideal manufacturing methods based on job specifications, machine capabilities, material availability, and cost balance. This role conveys specific instructions to Manufacturing and Customer Service teams through the Monarch System (planning software).

This role is 100% on-site at our St. Joseph print production location. The schedule is 8 am - 4:30 pm with a 30-minute lunch break, Monday - Friday, with summer hours changing to 7:30 - 4 pm from Memorial Day until Labor Day. This is an hourly, non-exempt role that is eligible for overtime when available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Reviews customer materials and specifications provided through the Monarch System.
  • Works with Scheduling to determine manufacturing methods (sheetfed/web).
  • Determines signature breakdown, paper requirements, work centers, and item numbers.
  • Calculates folder targets and press spoilages.
  • Creates folding dummies and imposition sheets, including special instructions for complex work.
  • Updates Monarch system with job information.
  • Ensures accuracy of job orders and calculations in Monarch.
  • Handles quantity changes and updates information accordingly.
  • Collaborates with various departments for troubleshooting and gathering information.
  • Interacts with Sales, Customer Service, and other teams to guide manufacturing specifications and address questions.
  • Develops innovative production methods for efficiency using available resources.
  • Must be able to read and follow work instructions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Makes decisions and supports them with valid reasoning while reconciling competing demands.


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two to four years of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Production and/or printing experience is helpful, but not required.


Computer Skills:



  • Working knowledge of MicrosoftExcel, MicrosoftAccess, and Monarch - or similar production planning systems preferred.
  • Ability to create layouts and work with programs like UpFront and Adobe Acrobat.


Other Skills and Abilities:



  • Leadership skills.
  • Strong multitasking and self-scheduling abilities.
  • Detailed understanding of production floor processes and ability to provide clear instructions.


Mathematical Skills:



  • Basic mathematical proficiency (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs
