About the Job

This is a 0.75 FTE position.

Incumbent will be designated as an Essential Employee. Essential Employees are defined as employees who are expected to report to campus during a University State of Emergency (reduced operations or campus closure) unless specifically directed by the Department not to report of if directed by civil emergency or medical authorities not to report for health and safety reasons. Essential Employees must report to campus even if the closure is less than three days.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Conduct, oversee, and analyze data from multiple complex Experiments (40%)
-Genome editing of human cells
-Assess functionality of modified cells
-FACS panel analysis of gene edited cells

Design and oversight of new experimental plans and procedures (40%)
-Development novel methods for engineering of cells.

Grant writing and design of experiemnets for grants (10%)

Routine lab maintenance (5%)
-Materials acquisition and laboratory organization as necessary

Supervision (5%)
-Supervise undergraduate research assistants and laboratory technical personnel who will aid in performing multiple complex experiments.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
PhD in life sciences with one or more years of research training
Experience in cell culture and PCR/molecular cloning

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in genome editing (ZFN, TALENs, Cas9, etc.), cloning, and/or cellular biology

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $55,000-$65,000 depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment

Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff
