Product Engineering Lifecycle Intern

Summary

This position is an intern position for Product Engineering. The position is designed to allow students the opportunity to learn and apply product support/manufacturing/engineering techniques in a manufacturing environment. This is an onsite Internship.

Students will gain experience in:



  • Materials testing and lab writing
  • SolidWorks
  • Product design
  • Engineering and manufacturing
  • Welding and fabrication techniques
  • Working with all levels and disciplines in a manufacturing environment
  • Project Management



Principal Responsibilities, (Other duties may be assigned)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.



  1. Assist the Product Engineering team in facilitating weather-related tests, writing reports and providing updates to internal customers.
  2. Support the Lifecycle Product Engineering team functions, supporting quality and product testing needs.
  3. Work with the tool room, manufacturing team, and supply chain teams to evaluate potential cost-reduction projects.
  4. Gain experience working with the new product design team and attending update meetings.



Education, Experience, and Skills

Currently enrolled in an accredited institution working on completion of bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with a desire to pursue product engineering as a career. Experience in a manufacturing environment and basic Solidworks or CAD skills preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This position will be part-time for up to 40 hours during the summer months and a minimum of 20 hours per week while in school. This position will be based onsite at our Kalamazoo facility. This internship will be re-evaluated on a quarterly basis as the needs for the business my shift. Work environment will be in both office and manufacturing floor environments.
