OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company, an employee-owned engineering, architecture, surveying, and geospatial firm, is looking for a Project Management Office Leader (PMOL) who is responsible for defining and maintaining project management standards and practices within our Operations Team. This position is responsible for developing and implementing project management elements that support business objectives and quality deliverables. The PMOL will foster a culture of community, collaboration, and continuous improvement in our project management. Strong change management skills and practices combined with an urgency to act are a critical component of success in this role. Merrick offers a hybrid work environment with the flexibility to work from home and in the office.

Annual salary range for this position is $170,000.00 - $220,000.00. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

Standardization of Processes and Operating Procedures:

  • Develop, standardize, streamline, and implement project management methodologies and processes tailored to the organization, business units, and client needs.
  • Define project management and delivery standards, templates and guidelines that establish guidance on project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closing.
  • Develop operating procedures for workload sharing procedures and tools and identify gaps in companywide standard operating procedures.

Training and Development:

  • Define, outline, and drive accessibility to training that impacts the totality of project management that is delivered on a consistent basis.
  • Work with the COO, Learning and Development, and the PMO Steering Committee to develop a focused Project Management Training program.

Risk Management:

  • Assist in the review of projects within the organization from a pursuit and execution perspective while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategies.
  • Coordinate with the Contracts and Risk Management Team to refine and better implement project risk management processes for the company.
  • Work with senior leadership and the legal team to evaluate and mitigate claim events and track reduction in losses with our PLI carrier and reduction of legal costs.

Quality Management:

  • Work with the Operations Quality Director to establish and monitor quality assurance and quality control processes and establish and deploy Quality Audit processes.
  • Support client feedback program, utilizing survey results to further improve our project management program.
  • Develop key performance indicators to support the Operations Quality Director to include 5% of all projects receiving QA audit, reduction in rework (lost revenue) and improved client feedback scores.

Technical Delivery:

  • Coordinate with leadership to share best practices and lessons learned and to address technical delivery needs and associate career progression in a consistent manner.
  • Collaborate with operation leaders to identify and understand technical delivery needs.

Strategic Initiatives:

  • Assist strategy in the due diligence efforts of potential acquisition targets to evaluate project management processes.
  • Assist strategy and business units in the deployment of new services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 20 years relevant AEC industry experience
  • 7 years of project management experience.
  • Must possess demonstrated project and budget management skills, change management practices, AEC industry PM software experience, and strong business acumen with a broad understanding of fundamental business and project management principles.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick's insurance carrier.
  • Travel is required and could be up to 20% of the position's time.
  • Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional licensure/registration in a technical discipline (engineering, architecture, surveying) and in Project Management Institute's PMP is a plus.
  • Merrick has over 20 offices locations in the US and Canada. Candidates local to one of those locations is preferred.
