We partner with businesses to help understand their current processes, largest challenges, and what their vision for the future is to help identify opportunities for Turnkey Automation Solutions with true business case ROI (Return on Investment) justifications. (https://mtlcraftautomationgroup.com/) Reporting to the Controls Engineering Manager; the Automation Controls Engineer will be responsible for the planning, designing, HMI PLC and robot programming, testing, start up, and commissioning of automated systems throughout several manufacturing industries from start to finish.
Responsibilities
- Plan and develop offline robot programs using 3D simulation software
- Initialize and install software on robots
- Setup robot user frames
- Verify and touch up offline robot path programming, I/O, and logic
- Testing and debugging of automated systems prior to customer run-off for factory acceptance and commissioning onsite at customers facility for final site acceptance
- Provide necessary electrical controls training of automated systems to customer personnel
- Provide necessary robotic program training of automated systems to customer personnel
- Provide accurate electrical controls and robot documentation of automated systems
- Support customers automation systems both remotely and onsite if needed
- Help identify and cultivate new sales opportunities by building relationships with existing, new, and potential customers/vendors
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in automation design and programming
- Allen Bradley PLC and HMI controls experience
- Strong knowledge of 2D software design tools to assist in the development and design of automation systems
- AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Rockwell Studio 5000
- FANUC robot setup and programming experience
- Material Handling ROBOGUIDE
- Welding WeldPRO
- Painting PaintPro
- CRX Collaborative
- Vision
- Octopuz 3D robot simulation experience is also a plus!
- Highly motivated team player
- Detail oriented
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Able to read electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic machine schematics
- Able to translate automation conceptual designs into functional equipment
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office products
- Able to think analytically and creatively while keeping safety and cost in mind
- Possess strong troubleshooting skills
- Able to operate on own initiative with minimal supervision, but also contribute as a team member working within the Automation Controls Engineering team and other cross functional teams including Sales, Automation Mechanical Engineering, and shop floor Electro-Mechanical Technicians
