Job Title: ENG- Y Field Design Support Manager Career Level From: Manager What You'll Do
Provide technical direction and administrative supervision for engineers and technical staff providing design support to production operations, facilities and utilities organizations. Ensure a sense of urgency in providing support for troubleshooting issues, providing compensatory measures and proposing repairs or modifications. Evaluate emergent issues to determine scope of support required and engage engineering disciplines as necessary. The role includes estimating, forecasting, specifying components, designing, procurement and construction support. Work with the facility manager/system engineer/system health manager, et al, on the preparation and definition of proposed modifications within a facility or plant-wide systems and with the designated project engineer, if applicable, to develop and ensure that the modification work scopes are complete. Provide technical supervision and coordination of staff functions including applying appropriate quality requirements, reviewing impacts to safety-related SSCs, and ensuring that designs and/or equivalency evaluations satisfy relevant technical and change management requirements. Maintain schedule tracking with sufficient detail to inform the Control Account Manager (CAM) of project status. Work with EP&C, Programs, Production, and Projects to ensure estimating, scheduling, and execution of Design Engineering tasks is in alignment with mission goals. Ensure adherence to CNS Core Values, Conduct of Engineering and Operating Principles for all responsible activities. Develop and provide qualified technical resources to execute Design Engineering functions in support of Production Operations and Y-12 Projects. Ensure that staff members apply the expertise needed to resolve design and equipment issues in cooperation with the cognizant Design Authority Representative, Engineering Chiefs and other related technical disciplines. Ensure that personnel have sufficient hardware and software resources to complete assigned tasks. Coordinate with Engineering senior management to ensure effective implementation of Design Engineering processes in area of responsibility and that appropriately qualified personnel are deployed to support the successful delivery of the Y-12 Engineering mission work tasks. Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
This position may require entry into the Material Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (10 C.F.R. Part 712), which requires successful competition of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation and may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.
