JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS The Laboratory of Dr. Misha Kwasniewski in the College of Agricultural Sciences, Department of Food Science at Penn State, University Park campus, is seeking a temporary, part-time Research Assistantto support ongoing lab and field research projects related to fermentation sciences, wine chemistry and grape development. Duties will include: Assist with sample preparation and extraction Operate Lab equipment such as a spectrophotometer, HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography) and GC-MS (gas chromatography mass spectrometer) Enter data using Excel or other programs Work with graduate students, post-docs and other lab members on ongoing projects as needed Occasional work in research and commercial vineyards planting vines and sampling Skills: Basic familiarity with chemistry and lab practices Strong organizational and communication skills Aptitude and interest in learning new methodology Thisjobrequires some progress toward a B.S. in a STEM related field such as food science or Chemistry.
