We're actively seeking a talented Investment Accounting Transaction Analyst to join our Investment Accounting Team in Newport Beach, CA.

As an Investment Transaction Management Analyst, you'll play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success by contributing to the efficient handling of complex Private Placement and Alternative investmentpost settlement activity, including the research and resolution of exception breaks. You will fill a role that sits on a team of currently 8 people in the Pacific Life Investment Accounting division.

How you'll help move us forward:

  • Provide operational day to day coverage to Credit analysists and Portfolio Managers trading fixed income securities and derivatives on behalf of the firm and its entities.

  • Interact with colleagues, custodian banks, internal departments (Accounting, Audit, Treasury, Corporate Finance) and other areas where necessary to ensure timely settlement of all cash flows associated with traded instruments.

  • Have knowledge and understanding of common fixed income and derivative products, including true private placements and bank loans. Have knowledge of the corporate action process, including notices, elections and processing.

  • Work directly with front office (trade floor & credit analysts) to handle issues and inquiries.

  • Interact with all necessary external and internal counterparts' colleagues to ensure that all necessary information has been communicated, and all other trade details are coordinated so that agreed upon calculations, settlements and/or cash movements take place on time.

  • Further develop a detailed knowledge across Operations and use this to challenge and question existing roles and procedures to help define the future state of operations in order to support a growing and complex business.

The experience you bring:

  • 1-3 years of experience in fixed income within investment operations or middle office roles at an asset manager, hedge fund, or investment bank.

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline (preferred).

  • Understanding of commonly traded fixed income products (e.g., bonds, ABS, private placements) and related securities operations.

  • Strong grasp of investment operations, including trading workflows, systems, and evolving regulations.

  • Familiarity with GAAP and STAT accounting principles related to securities investments.

  • High numerical aptitude with the ability to understand abstract concepts and recognize patterns.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Bloomberg, Business Objects, and ePAM.

  • IT literacy to effectively communicate with technical teams and support functions.

  • Self-starter with strong planning, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to interact with brokers, custodians, traders, legal counsel, and senior investment professionals.

  • Strong research and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret legal documents and internal records.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to following procedures and continuously improving processes.

What makes you stand out:

  • Knowledge of the following Fixed Income and derivative products traded and how they work, including bonds, equities, money markets, CMOs (CMBS & RMBS), mortgages, private placements, term loans, working capital finance notes, corporate actions, swaps and options.

  • A working knowledge of how each security traded by PL and its Entities works, in particular the risks and potential costs to errors, cash flows, calculations, failing trades and the impact to Pacific Life of operating errors

  • The ability to thoroughly understand the front to back flow of several desks to include trade capture, trade confirmation, corporate actions, trade and position reconciliations

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$36.05 - $44.06
