Job Summary:

Currently we are seeking an energetic, driven, results-oriented Process Technician for our Belden Engineering Center in Richmond, IN.This job revolves around the operation of extrusion lines used to manufacture various products to Belden standards. It includes interpreting shop packets to determine proper extruder setups, obtaining correct components, such as tooling, supply wire and compounds, as well as manufacturing an end-product conforming to specifications. It also requires operation of material handling equipment, measuring product attributes and reporting product data.

Responsibilities:




  1. Operates any or all machines in the BEC
  2. Makes complete machine set-ups and operates machines and auxiliary equipment according to basic and special instructions recorded on specifications and P&Ms. Set-up time and output to meet standards established by management.
  3. Inspects cable to detect electrical, cosmetic or dimensional defects. Must successfully complete training in inspection techniques, laboratory testing and formal documentation of test characteristics.
  4. Should be able to use all tools necessary to operate machinery. Tests and inspects products to satisfy customer requirements.
  5. Responsible for ensuring that supply material is per requirement.
  6. Collects and documents data from each manufacturing run using automatic statistical measurement equipment and/or manual methods
  7. Responsible for charting machine parameters and notifying appropriate personnel of potential problems.
  8. Responsible for filling out and/or attaching reel tags, shipping labels, maintenance reports and computer print-outs. Responsible for traceability through the assigned operation.
  9. Interpret shop packets to properly set up machines and appropriately document details for set up runs and lessons learned.
  10. Work closely with Product and Material Engineers to produce intended product attributes
  11. Complete production hour logs and inventory management
  12. Candidate must be able to quickly respond to changing priorities
  13. Must be able to comply with the company policies.
  14. Completes all other duties as assigned.



Required Skills and Experience




  • High School Diploma
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Extrusion experience, preferably with some specialized processes including one or more of the following:

    • Foam extrusion experience
    • Jacket extrusion experience with a wide range of compounds.
    • Jacket extrusion experience with profiles and pull-in materials set ups


  • Basic PC skills with MS Office knowledge
  • Willingness to grow in experience and ability to solve problems
  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment, hold valid powered industrial fork trucker'slicense and with valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work competently and independently and with other Engineers and BEC team members.
  • Must be discrete with ability to conceal confidential information per a signed NDA regarding confidential business plans and operations such as R&D efforts, employees, and other company information.
