Performs a variety of design/drafting assignments. Investigates and procures all data required to develop a design. Prepares preliminary sketches and/or drawings. Applies all preliminary information and contributing data to develop or lead others to develop final drawings. Participates in the development of original designs or adaptations requiring specialized experience.

* Complex responsibilities related to primary focus of job area. Uses best practices and in-depth business knowledge to solve complex problems and improve products or services. May adapt procedures, processes and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of position.

* Reviews drawings and answers questions pertaining to any drafting and design assignments.

* Provides technical input such as project alternatives, system/feasibility studies, cost estimates, design and equipment operating parameters.

* Provides drafting and design related guidance and work leadership for day to day activities and projects.

* All other duties as assigned.

* Ensures drafting procedures and instructions are followed.

* Facilitates the review and maintenance of the drafting guidelines and specifications.

* May perform drafting work.

* Prepares detail construction drawings for all projects using design notes, sketches, and specifications.

* Coordinates drafting and design projects for both internal and external Drafting personnel.

* May perform final field inspections of completed construction to assure compliance with design drawings.

* May perform engineering surveys at project sites, prepares sketches and drawings from field notes.

* Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology or related field, and 3 years Drafting related experience and5 years Design experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Previous experience in substation design.

* Based upon department resources, the nature of the work, and the size of the department, the ability to differentiate colors may be required for some positions.

* May require travel.

* Primary work in office environment.

* May be required to work non-standard work schedules including weekends and holidays.

* Member is required to drive in order to perform their job duties. Member is assigned a company vehicle and/or member must drive a company and/or personal vehicle to complete company business at least 50% of time.

* The operation, maintenance or oversight of critical services and infrastructure including but not limited to, electric utilities, power generation or distribution;

* Self motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

* Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing with members at all levels throughout the organization and outside professionals.

* Demonstrated ability to think creatively in order to propose new solutions for old and new issues.

* Demonstrated ability to provide direction and guidance to others (e.g., Drafting team, external contractors, etc.).

* Demonstrated ability to facilitate, coordinate, and negotiate, as required.

* Demonstrated ability to work within stringent deadlines.

* Possesses good skills in the use of a personal computer with strong knowledge of MS process.

* In depth knowledge and experience in engineering/construction processes.

* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities.

* Office Suite applications and related applications.

* Required Certifications/Licensures:(Valid Driver's License)
