St. Paul Academy and Summit School (SPA) is a coeducational, non-sectarian, college preparatory day school serving more than 920 students in kindergarten through grade 12. About the Middle School:

The Middle School at SPA is a place where students in Grades 6-8 experience the transition from childhood to young adulthood safely and surrounded by adults who care. Our culture is defined by our warm and welcoming community, our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and our innovative and rigorous curriculum. The Middle School curriculum emphasizes wide-ranging exploration and skill development in specific disciplines, taught by teachers who understand and genuinely enjoy students at this age. In the Middle School, students are challenged to embrace new ideas and think independently. Salary Range: $25- $28 per hour

Description:

St. Paul Academy seeks candidates for the position of full-time Health Assistant at our Randolph Campus, serving grades 6-12. This is a full-time, 10-month position beginning August 11, 2025. The Health Assistant is responsible for assisting students with routine health care procedures, serving as a liaison between the Licensed School Nurse (LSN), student health and wellness faculty/staff members, and parents/guardians relating to health care issues and maintaining related health records. The Health Assistant will report to the Assistant Head of School and receives day-to-day work direction from the LSN as it relates to student health and wellness issues.

Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:




  • Follow protocols and written care plans to administer medication, treatments, and episodic care under the delegation and guidance of the LSN



  • Maintain accurate health records and secure storage of medication



  • Provide first aid or CPR to students as needed



  • Care for sick students within the school's protocol of care; contact parents/guardians to pick up students from school as needed



  • Under the direction of the LSN, make follow up contacts with parents/guardians when important health information has been sent home



  • Participate in training as required



  • Promote effective communication and understanding relating to student health issues among students' homes, schools, and the community



  • Participate in conferences with parents/guardians and staff that include discussions of student health related information and accommodations



  • Maintain confidentiality of records and oral/written communications;



  • Perform other duties as assigned




Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:




  • Knowledge of adolescent health issues



  • Knowledge of the physical, social, and emotional needs of students



  • Ability to interact effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staff members represent diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds



  • Ability to assist parents/guardians in communicating with the school about their child's needs



  • Ability to follow directions and/or guidance from the LSN



  • Ability to utilize computers to maintain records




Minimum Qualifications:




  • High school diploma or GED



  • Experience working in a healthcare setting, residential care facility, or related experience



  • Excellent communication skills



  • Successful completion of first aid and CPR certification within 30 days of hire





  • Successful completion of medication training provided by the designated staff member within 30 days and prior to performing related duties



  • Ability to report information in an objective manner



  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally




Preferred Qualifications:




  • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medication Aide, Community Health Worker (CHW), or an equivalent training program



  • College coursework in health, public health, child development, child psychology, or a related field



  • Experience as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Medical Assistant, Community Health Worker (CHW), or related experience
