Bereavement Care Specialist - ENOUGH

Under limited supervision, provides counseling and support to individuals who are grieving after a loss. Services are provided to all age groups.

This Bereavement Care Specialist works under the general direction of the Bereavement Care Supervisor and Associate Vice President of Mission Advancement. Bereavement Care Specialist is responsible for the coordination of all bereavement care support programs and services provided to the target community served under the Engaging Neighborhoods, Organizations, Unions, Governments and Households (ENOUGH) initiative. Bereavement Care Specialists collaborates with community stake holders and ENOUGH initiative community Quarterback - San Mar. Responsible for provision of bereavement care services consistent with the mission, vision, and goals of HWC, as well as quality outcomes and regulatory standards. Will provide grief education and consultation services to schools, community leaders, professionals, organizations and businesses who serve of work with bereaved individuals from target community. Builds lasting partnerships increasing the opportunity for collaboration on initiated that impact the community. Raises awareness of the impact of grief and loss. Will primarily work in office setting established at Brooke's House Counseling Center.

Education

Master's degree in a counseling-related field required.

Experience

Minimum 3 years' experience working with individuals and families who have experienced loss.
Clinical experience in assessing, intervening, and providing time limited counseling to clients grieving a loss which may include anticipatory grief and or caregiver stress.
Experience in public speaking in a variety of settings with groups of varying size.
Experience in facilitating support groups.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Mental health and bereavement knowledge and experience to ensure understanding of the basic issues of human development and behavior
  • Analytical skills necessary to assess client needs, to establish a plan of care and to effect appropriate interventions
  • Time management skills and discipline required to efficiently and effectively manage job duties
  • Ability to read and write the English language in order to complete required professional documentation and correspondence.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively engage clients, interns and community members

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must adhere to all grant contracts and responsibilities under Engaging Neighborhoods, Organizations, Unions, Governments and Households (ENOUGH) initiative.

  • Must collect, maintain, analyze and submit fiscal reports and participant data per regulations per Governor's Office for Children directives.

  • Evaluate progress being made towards implementation of programs and budget as outlined in grant proposal.

  • Serve as liaison to San Mar Bester Community of Hope, and stakeholders including students, parent/guardians, and all affiliated staff.

  • Collaborates with HWC staff to support ongoing needs of HWC families and community members in target geographic boundaries.

  • Plans and implements and supports an ongoing outreach and education strategy to generate family participants, volunteers and community partnerships.

  • Assesses needs and implements an individualized bereavement care plan for individuals who reside in target community. Caseload will include families of Hospice of Washington County patients, as well as community members who have experienced or anticipating the death of a loved one.

  • Offer individual grief support and education services to bereaved individuals in home, office, school, and/or community settings. Provide resources for appropriate referrals as needed.

  • Develops and implements group bereavement programs aligned with target community grief/loss needs. General programmatic goals may include grief and loss support specifically regarding community needs including overdose loss and suicide loss support.

  • Administrative tasks such as tracking all communication, mileage, services, as well as completion of detailed quality documentation in EMR.

  • Maintains records required per the grant program, as well as collaborates and reports to designated Official Authorized to Execute Contract - AVP of Mission Advancement, Program Director, and Fiscal Contact for program management and renewal processes.

  • Collaborates with full Bereavement Care team, as well as all Hospice of Washington County executive, clinical, administrative, and volunteer staff.

  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Licensures, Certifications

Not required. Preferred LGSW/LMSW, LGPC, LCSW or Certified School Counselor.

Physical Requirements

* Ability to drive in rural, suburban and urban areas to provide grief counseling and support services.
* Ability to walk and climb stairs as appropriate.
* Ability to access partner facilities, schools and offices in the community.

Working Conditions

* Work is performed virtually, inside the organization's offices, and in community settings in all types of weather conditions
* Able to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends

Conditions of Employment

Valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
Completes all required orientation and ongoing education per Hospice of Washington County policy.

Pay Range

$52,635.34 - $81,584.77

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
