JOB SUMMARY: The Volunteer Engagement Manager manages the day-to-day operations and staff of the Volunteer Engagement Office, ensuring the program successfully meets its goals. This position oversees the creation and fruition of volunteer opportunities, volunteer recruitment, and training for staff and volunteers. The position supervises agency-wide special events led by the Volunteer Engagement Office and collaborates with the Director of Volunteer Engagement to expand and enhance the capacity of the agency to engage more volunteers. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Provides administrative supervision of 2 FTEs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and oversee daily operations of the Volunteer Engagement Office.
Ensure implementation of agency practices and procedures in P/Ps 742 -Volunteers and 749-Academic Interns to engage volunteers and interns in the mission of the Agency.
Manage the engagement of volunteers and interns placed in the Volunteer Engagement Office.
Perform regular and timely evaluations of volunteer and intern activities and prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports.
Ensure the wise use of budget to carry out plans and meet goals.
Supervise Volunteer Engagement Office staff, which includes recruiting, supervising, training, coaching for professional development, evaluating performance, setting standards for customer service, and facilitating team dynamics.
Provide supervision of a varying number of full-time volunteers (Capuchin Corps, VISTA) and part-time volunteers.
Supervise the implementation of agency-wide programs, such as Academic Interns, Summer Interns, Mission of Mercy Dental Clinic, Angel Tree, and Caritas!.
Develop and carry out VEO communication and outreach strategy to expand Catholic Charities volunteer opportunities and recruitment base.
Continuously improve the Volunteer Engagement Office workflow processes to create efficiencies and improvements around bringing volunteers and interns into service, ensuring the impact of service, and meeting annual engagement goals.
Collaborate with the Director of Volunteer Engagement Office to develop and implement plans to expand and enhance volunteer and intern engagement in Agency mission, operations, and programs.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, social science, administration or related field or equivalent gained through work experience.
3 years of work experience, preferably in a nonprofit working with volunteers or working in any field working with communications and marketing.
1 year plus of supervisory experience.
Experience developing and managing special volunteer events, volunteer and internship programs, and communication campaigns.
SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:
- Knowledge of volunteer management principles and practices including recruiting, training, managing, and supporting groups of people to address client needs through service projects.
- Extensive computer knowledge and skills in applications such as Microsoft Office, Better Impact, WordPress, Google Drive, Canva, and other internet application.
