We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Director, Registration Solutions, to join our team and drive our digital evolution initiatives.

The Associate Director, Registration Solutions is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and management of registration solutions and digital platforms that support discovery of new small molecule and cell and gene therapy medicines. This work is a critical part of our laboratory solutions to ensure that fast, effective and compliant registration of molecules occurs and is important in the generation of Vertex's intellectual property.

This role ensures that software and data technology systems align with global research requirements, optimize data integrity, and streamline sample workflows. The Associate Director partners with IT, global research teams, quality and regulatory to enhance digital capabilities, drive automation, and improve operational efficiency in sample registration processes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Vision and Strategy:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of registration systems to support the discovery of new molecular entities including small molecule chemicals, cell therapies and gene therapies.
  • Oversee the integration of registration digital solutions that manage data flows across experiment capture through to analytical insight.
  • Couple mastery of the marketplace of commercial products with innovation to where creative solutions can drive Vertex's needs forward.

Operational Execution:

  • Collaborate with IT, regulatory, and scientific teams to ensure that registration systems align with business needs and compliance standards.
  • Focus on data integrity, security, and accessibility within regulatory solutions to support efficient submissions and reporting.
  • Drive process automation and digital transformation initiatives to improve efficiency in registration.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and regulatory trends to enhance system capabilities and maintain compliance with evolving global standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and support for troubleshooting system issues and optimizing system performance.

Leadership:

  • Execute strategic plans for assigned projects or functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the execution of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Lead and mentor a team of professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Monitor and report on project performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in successfully developing and implementing technology strategy, preferably within a complex scientific research organization.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with demonstrated success in managing diverse teams and fostering high engagement.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities, with a focus on driving innovation and operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to produce strategic documents, present ideas and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences, and all levels of the organization.
  • A strong commitment to compliance and integrity in systems, processes, and actions, with a deep understanding of the biotech regulatory environment.
  • This is a hybrid role based in Boston, Massachusetts. The Flex @ Vertex Policy requires 3 days a week, of your choice, on-site.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% to support business objectives.
  • Experience with enabling advanced technologies, such as AI and machine learning, through data engineering strategies is highly desirable.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, computer science, IT or relevant equivalent; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in science and technology within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory technology, chemistry or gene therapy discovery.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and technologies, with a strong understanding of digital trends and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and initiatives that require collaboration across multiple functional areas.
  • Experience in pharmaceuticals and life sciences is a plus.

Pay Range:

$165,600 - $248,400

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Hybrid-Eligible Or On-Site Eligible

Flex Eligibility Status:

In this Hybrid-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as:
1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
2. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
