Job Description

The Vertex Co-op Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Not only will co-ops learn about their day-to-day tasks through their specific work assignments, but they will interact and have exposure to our organizational leaders and their teams.

Job Summary:

The Data Governance and Master Data Management team enables the Company's overall data governance framework by developing and implementing the processes and platforms that support the framework. Working in coordination with data engineering, analytics teams and other data consumers, the team helps enable the Company's overall data and technology strategy. During this 6-month program, the Data Governance co-op will assist with the curation of our data catalog, onboard new data teams as well as help enable teams on governance processes. The individual will also work with our Center of Excellence team to implement user experience improvements to the metadata curation process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist data teams with onboarding and curating critical data in the data catalog.

  • Create documentation and training to support learning opportunities for data governance processes.

  • Assist with training of data team members on data governance process and best practice.

  • Analyze and propose improvements in the overall governance process.

  • Clean and maintain assets in the data catalog; and

  • Assist with special projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated, strong organization skills and attention to detail.

  • Analytical, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

  • Willingness to work efficiently and effectively in a complex team environment.

  • Completed coursework aligned with data, analytics and/or data management.

  • Solid foundation in Microsoft productivity tools.

  • Functional knowledge of SQL, Python; JIRA and a familiarity with utilizing REST APIs; and

  • A desire to experience and learn from of a highly innovative company aimed at transforming lives of people with serious diseases, their family and society

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States, now and in the future. Please note that Vertex does not provide sponsorship for internships or entry level roles within this part of the organization.

  • Candidate must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before July 2025

  • Candidate must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from July - December 2025.

Program Dates: July - December 2025, Full Time

Pay Range: 20.00 - 35.00 USD/hour

This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
