About the Job

Non-Exempt Temporary or Casual Position (this position will work no more than 67 full-time working days in a calendar year or 14 hours per week indefinitely)

Primary responsibilities:
Specific technical/bench-work research (60%):
Bench work, including, cell culture, qPCR and western.
Independent data analysis and presentation of final results
Keep detailed records of all experiments and procedures in laboratory notebooks, databases, spreadsheets, and web-based applications.

General laboratory management duties (30%):
Prepare media, enzymes, and solutions under sterile conditions in large quantities.
Work under the Lab Manager and graduate student, to manage day to day laboratory operations by coordinating shipping and receiving, ordering supplies, inventory updates and general laboratory organization
Follow established biological, chemical and physical safety procedures and train new personnel

Other duties as assigned (10%):
Help monitor and train undergraduate student workers.
Requires the ability to work occasional weekend hours.

Qualifications

Required:

  • BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years

Preferred:

  • Experience in tissue culture work
  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills; comfort in working in a team
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $15.25 - 20/hr; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
