Summary

The Pharmacist Supervisor of the Centralized Refill Program leads activities supporting prescription refill renewal authorization for MaineHealth Medical Group patients, using established institutional guidelines and embedded protocols within the electronic health record. This Pharmacist Supervisor will work closely with the MaineHealth Medical Group, Virtual InBasket, and Information Technology teams to grow the Centralized Refill Program. Under the general direction of the Manager for Primary Care Pharmacy Services, this position will oversee the clinical pharmacy team members directly involved in the Centralized Refill Program.

  • Leads protocol development and optimization efforts with therapeutic, evidence-based medicine decision making
  • Assesses for enhanced patient outcomes and patient experience through appropriate medication management and timely processing of refill requests
  • Fosters interdisciplinary collaboration with providers, pharmacists and medical assistants to optimize medication therapy

Shift: Monday - Friday 8 - 4:30 pm

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: A Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or Masters in Hospital Pharmacy or Business Administration is preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: An active Maine license as a registered pharmacist is required.
  3. Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in hospital pharmacy preferred. A general or specialized pharmacy residency is preferred. Experience in a large academic medical center is preferred.
  4. Preferred in depth background in pharmacy operations and personnel management.
  5. Must possess good experience in the development of programs focused on achieving positive outcome in the training and education of department personnel.
  6. Experience must be directly related to pharmacy service development and implementation.
  7. Good communication (both verbal and written) and effective presentation skills utilizing various types of media.
  8. Demonstrates basic knowledge of drug dosages, significant interactions, allergies and is able to apply the principles to specific patient related situations.
  9. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and laws pertaining to the preparation, storage, procurement use and disposal of medications in the practice of Pharmacy.
