Job Summary

Provides day to day management of the Pastoral Services staff to ensure the provision of pastoral care to patients, families and as appropriate, to staff. Oversees the education and training Required for support of these services within the organization. Provision of a liaison relationship with the religious community.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with the leadership of Pastoral Services by effectively managing and supervising personnel, promoting a positive, professional attitude and quality spiritual care to patient, families and staff.
  • Consistently demonstrates a thorough knowledge and adherence to hospital and department specific policies. Actively participates in formulation/review/revision of policies as delegated to.
  • Develops and implements pastoral orientation and re-evaluates the program as needed.
  • Ensures pastoral coverage through scheduling of staffed and volunteer chaplains.
  • Oversee the use and maintenance of the pastoral care office and chapel.
  • Supports an interdisciplinary approach to pastoral care through coordination of clergy, pastoral visitors, and volunteers from the pastoral community.
  • Utilizes time effectively and efficiently to ensure patient referrals are completed in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicates and displays a knowledge and understanding of the role and capabilities of various professionals and collaborates effectively.
  • Responds to calls for sacramental ministry.
  • Responsible for the spiritual care of hospice patients and their families.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Preferred:
Experience - 3+ years of Acute Experience*Education - Masters degree in Related Field
Certifications - Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) - Accredited University or accredited training professionals; National Association of Catholic Chaplains Certification - Accredited University or accredited training professionals

Physical Requirements:
Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
