WIC Nutritionist, 40 hours, Jamaica Plain-Brighton WIC Program

Provides nutrition care to WIC participants, under the supervision of the Senior Nutritionist including all aspects of:
oAnthropometric and hematological data collection
oDietary assessment, nutritional risk assessment and food package prescription
oNutrition and breastfeeding counseling and education
oDocumentation and data entry
oReferrals to other health and social services
oFollow up nutrition education
oCo-sign and consult support to nutrition paraprofessional staff
Participates in department performance improvement/quality assurance activities.
Participates in department meetings, health center meetings, and applicable WIC task force committees
Completes all required Brigham and DPH trainings by assigned deadlines
Completes monthly statistics reports, monthly time study, and other required reports
May provide training for dietetic interns or volunteers
Serves as a professional resource for health center staff and community agencies and provides them with nutrition information through individual consultation

Education

Bachelor's Degree Clinical Dietitian required

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

Completed internship required

Preferred: Ability to provide nutrition counseling in Spanish - functional Spanish is acceptable.Portuguese fluency desired as well.

Ability to travel to several WIC sites in the Boston area

Familiarity with maternal and child nutrition

Strong individual and group counseling skills.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Strong tech literacy

Strong teamwork and customer service skills.

Licenses and Credentials

Dietitian and Nutritionist [State License] preferred

Heartsaver CPR AED Certification [CPR] preferred

Registered Dietitian [RD] preferred

Registered Dietitican Nutritionist [RDN] preferred

Experience

Prior WIC experience strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Good communication skills.

Ability to effectively evaluate and problem solve.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to guide, teach, and motivate all patient age populations.
