Position Summary |
The Grant Development Office - Research Program Manager position serves a critical function in supporting the Director, Associate Directors, and other senior leadership to organize, support, and promote the collaborative science initiatives within the
UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. As the Center's research portfolio has expanded significantly and will continue a similar trajectory for the foreseeable future along with the increasing complexity of funding guidelines, this position will serve a key role in managing the research and administrative needs of these efforts. This position supports the collaborative science programs currently in the Center and identifies and develops new opportunities for collaborations within and outside the Center. The position will work closely with the Associate Director for Translational Research.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Support and manage existing teams to respond to new and existing research opportunities in strategic areas.
* Help identify, develop, promote, and apply for new opportunities.
* Coordinate and manage collaborative science needs including meetings and events related to each of the teams.
* Work with other members of the Center including business managers, scientific writers, and faculty.
* Reporting, including writing and presentation on team progress.
* Set and meet timelines for teams.
* Analyze team metrics and productivity.
* Coordinate and run workshops for a variety of audiences, including staff and faculty.
* Work with Business Officer on spending strategies, effort allocation, and re-budgeting.
* Monitor human subjects reporting, including management of reporting in clinicaltrials.gov, and Human Subjects Study Record reporting in Assist.
* Monitor publications throughout the year, ensuring grant related publications are appropriately affiliated and made compliant with
NIH Public Access Policy.
* Collaborate with subsites to monitor progress, report on Human Subjects enrollment and publications.
* Coordinate Career Enhancement Program and Developmental Research Program applications, appointments, and reporting. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure. |

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
* Relevant experience in research administration and or project management
* Advanced degree or certification in a related field
* Experience with research design, data collection/management, monitoring budget expenditures, and grant proposal preparation
* Experience working in research at an academic medical center |
