Job Description

Flight Specialties Components Corp. (FSC), a subsidiary of HEICO Aerospace, is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer to develop aerospace avionics and electro-mechanical components at our facility in Highland Heights, Ohio

Requirements

PRIME RESPONSIBILITIES



  • This position is not remote and is a full-time, in-office role reporting to the FSC Engineering Manager, NPD
  • Manage all aspects of product development for assigned projects as detailed below

    • Analyze existing commercial aircraft components to reverse engineer them and develop equivalent or improved replacement parts.
    • Use test equipment such as electronic test equipment, force gages, light meters, calipers, etc. in the analysis, design, and reverse engineering of aircraft components.
    • Direct and manage dimensional inspection and material analysis of assigned components by outside suppliers and support specialists.
    • Communicate design requirements through models and drawings in Solidworks with application of GD&T, design for inspectability, and design for manufacturability.
    • Develop manufacturing process specifications for medium to complex assemblies.
    • Identify and apply appropriate industry standard specifications.
    • Oversee the design of circuits and printed circuit boards for use in end products and internal test equipment.
    • Develop acceptance and qualification test procedures.
    • Design custom test fixtures and equipment for production and qualification testing.
    • Research and identify potential suppliers. Support the development and qualification of new suppliers. Act as technical liaison with suppliers to support manufacturing.
    • Analyze part function and system interactions to prepare safety assessments.
    • Interpret wiring and schematic diagrams.
    • Prepare FAA design substantiation document packages and coordinate FAA review.
    • Forecast and track project status for management review.
    • Present design reviews, production readiness, and supplier kick-off meetings.


  • Provide technical leadership and demonstrate project ownership. Execute on project schedules through completion to achieve set goals, support customers, coordinate with suppliers, and coordinate with cross functional internal team members.


This position may require 5-15% travel to visit airline engineering departments, test facilities, and MRO facilities, including locations outside the United States.

EDUCATION / PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent required.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residence required.
  • Experience with Altium, Solidworks, or similar CAD software required.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Experience with automated test equipment is highly desired.
  • FAA certification and test experience is highly desired.
  • Understanding of aircraft, engines, and associated systems (avionics, flight controls, bleed air systems, engine accessories, landing gear, interiors, etc.) is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of electromechanical devices such as Displays, Switches, Proximity Sensors, Pressure and Temperature Sensors, etc. including testing requirements, materials, and drawing requirements is highly desired.
  • At least 8 years commercial or military aerospace design or project experience with similar products strongly preferred.
  • Experience with engineering simulation and analytical tools desired.
  • Hands-on prototype, manufacturing or repair shop experience is desired.
  • Successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated effective decision making, organizational and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with the FAA PMA certification process a strong benefit.
  • Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks and have the ability to work in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment.
