What You'll Do

As the Director of Electronics and Automation Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing select engineering resources to coordinate the provision of engineering solutions, designs and improvements for Dyno Nobel Americas (DNA) initiation Systems (IS) manufacturing. Duties will include:

  • Lead and support career development of the Electronics & Automation Engineering team
  • Work with Business Units and Stakeholders to develop project scopes, design requirements and business cases
  • Provide engineered designs of initiating systems manufacturing facilities
  • Provide technical solutions for equipment, processes and instrumentation for new and existing DNA operations
  • Design and provide equipment specifications for pumping, heating, and cooling equipment
  • Accountable for key engineering deliverables including detailed technical drawings and specifications
  • Provide engineering support for DNA operations for compliance with applicable regulatory and Dyno Nobel engineering standards for equipment, process and plant design
  • Provide engineering support for Dyno Nobel Joint Ventures including international partners, providing guidance for capital upgrades and supporting in conformance to safety standards and best practices
  • Technical subject matter expert for initiating systems including production methodologies, key safety and hazard control methodologies and product performance drivers
  • Act as the technical authority for the process design of all major DNA Emulsion and Joint Venture IS Manufacturing engineering projects.
  • Oversee E&A engineering team's deliverables on all projects to ensure technical quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead and support the career development of the E&A engineering team, including career planning, recognition, coaching, learning, and development. Foster an environment of growth and trust. Ensure a high level of cross-functional team participation.
  • Communicate effectively with the engineering team and project stakeholders, including the customer, field operations staff, environmental, health & safety, and various levels of management. Manage ambiguity and customer expectations.
  • Demonstrate ownership and seek accountability within multiple diverse teams to deliver results.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferred disciplines: Automation, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Mechatronics
  • 15+ years relevant industry experience (mineral processing/mining, industrial chemical manufacturing plants, oil & gas, etc.)
  • Proven leadership. Able to motivate and drive teams to maximum performance and positive project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and be flexible with several projects in progress simultaneously with multiple teams.
  • Possesses strong knowledge and application of best engineering practices, standards and codes as well as health and safety codes.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver capital projects on time and on budget, with stakeholder satisfaction. Strong ability to develop technical scope and identify key specifications while managing customer expectations.
  • Able and willing to travel up to 50% of the time during project construction, with regular travel anticipated 20% of the time. Capable of international travel.
