DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Equipment Operator B, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently delivering supplies to various troops and bureaus throughout the state. Your duties will include driving trucks and vans of various sizes and operating equipment such as forklifts and floor jacks to load and unload these vehicles. Additionally, you will be in charge of maintaining mileage records, scheduling maintenance, and ensuring that all vehicles are up to date with state inspections. This role also requires the ability to make informed decisions about the proper loading of trucks to determine which items need to be returned from troops. It is essential to have a thorough understanding of state laws relating to weight limits to ensure compliance and safety while operating the equipment.

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of 39,785.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
Special Requirement:
- You must possess a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
Condition of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with the air brake restriction removed.
- Hazmat endorsement on Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with air brake restriction removed will be required within 6 months of being hired.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass criminal history and background investigations if you do not have a current Pennsylvania State Police background on file.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
- This position is subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with federal regulations.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
