Our team is dedicated to continuous innovation in optical component function integration, miniaturization, and manufacturing automation. We provide cutting edge technology with a comprehensive optical, mechanical, electrical and software integration capabilities enable us to serve the needs of high-density, high-bandwidth, and flexible optical networks of telecom, datacom, hyperscale datacenter and supercomputing.

Molex is seeking an Optical Test Engineer to join one of the leading optical component and module R&D teams in the world. In this role, you will contribute to characterizing, defining and testing optical system features of high-speed optical transceivers in a diverse set of test platforms. As the Optical Test Engineer, you will work within a multi-disciplinary R&D team that designs Molex's current and next generation optical transceiver modules (400Gb/s - 1.6Tb/s) for coherent and direct-detect (PAM4) applications. This position requires background in optical engineering, optical transceiver test, and an intimate knowledge of optical and RF test instrumentation. A strong ability to take a system level question and transform it into a test station, test automation code, data, and clear communication of the outcome to the team is critical.

What You Will Do

  • Characterize system level performance of coherent/IMDD optical transceivers
  • Specify and build the required test stations
  • Develop test automation and data analysis code
  • Quantify measurement errors in test systems
  • Perform analysis and generate test reports to provide feedback to the engineering team
  • Document test plans and procedures
