Job Summary
Assists in overseeing and directing/precepting the work flow of the Central Processing Technician students and CPD Tech I's duties as well as equipment and supply issues in work area in accordance with established policies, procedures and Association of Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards. Provides input into the staff evaluations and assists with staff development on shift, as appropriate. Acts as a role model and resource to peers and other members of the health care team related to processing of equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Essential Functions
  • Assist with staff assignments to maintain adequate workflow to meet changing needs on a daily basis.
  • Acts as a role model and resource to peers and provides mentoring and support to staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Regularly serves as an established preceptor and provides competency validation.
  • Performs all functions of a Central Processing Technician I - including inspecting, disinfecting, assembling, processing and distributing patient care instruments, equipment, an supplies.
  • Accurately differentiates between instruments functionality and its specialty. Monitors performance of sterilizers, sonic, utensil washers and other equipment and fills out repair requisitions as necessary.
  • Strives for an exceptionally low error rate with high productivity.
Qualifications
  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of relevant experience Sterile processing technician experience or related sterile processing Required
  • CRT-Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Tech (CSPDT) - CBSPD Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution Upon Hire required Or
  • CRT-Registered Central Services Technician, Certified (CRCST) - IAHCSMM International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management Upon Hire required
