What we offer:

Job Functions:

The position assumes the responsibility and accountability of overseeing and coordinating all aspects for Culinary Arts Program (CAP) and expected outcomes. Supervises the Culinary Arts Program Instructors for all training sites. Develops and continuously improves Culinary Arts Program policies and procedures, partnerships, curriculum, recruitment, instruction, growth and expansion, and coordination of services for students.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, manage, and expand CAP services. Interviews, hires, and trains instructors.
  2. Build, coach, manage, supervise, and evaluate all CAP instructors in a manner that uplifts, motivates, provides accountability, and aligns with Metropolitan Ministries' 4C's, character, competency, chemistry, and calling.
  3. Work toward developing and improving systems and processes. Maintain compliance and regulatory standards. Communicate effectively with key stakeholders.
  4. Keep accurate records and data for student outcomes, CAP outcomes, and all areas of oversight.
  5. Plans and manages scheduling and execution of graduation, recruitment activities, training site visits, team meetings, and student training hours.
  6. Develops and works with existing and potential referring agencies to promote MM's Culinary Arts Program. Attends outside promotional events (e.g., Chamber) to network on behalf of MM CAP.
  7. Coordinates onboarding and offboarding for CAP students. Facilitates a student feedback survey about the program as students complete training.
  8. Monitors progress of students and assists with externship placement and obtaining a job in a culinary field. Monitors graduates at the 3-, 6-, and 12-month marks. Provide transitional support to graduates who have completed the program.
  9. Orders and tracks inventory of necessary supplies for students and for CAP training. Track all CAP related expenditures for each fiscal year.
  10. Collaborates with instructors to develop and implement policies and procedures for instructors and for students. Continuously develops and updates instructor guide and student handbook.
  11. Works with Case Management (Employment) team to schedule CAP students into an Employment Boot Camp. Refers students to appropriate MM team as necessary (Counseling, Employment, Housing, etc.).
  12. Collaborate with the Grants team and donors to assist with grant development and outcome tracking. Input and track program data for any related grant outcomes.
  13. Monitor and maintain all CAP information for the MM landing page, the Culinary Arts Teams Channel, and work closely with Marketing team to update all program service information.
  14. Provide updates on CAP residential clients in any related client review meetings.
  15. Ensure that all activities are conducted within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  16. Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision. Meets organizational and professional goals while actively contributing to the achievement of the team.
  17. Keep confidential records according to the Ethical Boundaries for Those That Serve. Maintain professional boundaries.
  18. Demonstrate flexibility in work schedule to ensure that client/training needs are being met.
  19. Participate in Metropolitan Ministries holiday efforts, Bridge Builders, Tampa Bay Food Fight, and other fund-raising events when needed. Provide tours of the facilities and speak on behalf of Metropolitan Ministries as needed. Support the team and direct supervisor in other tasks as assigned. Participate in staff and group meetings as needed.
Requirements

Education and Experience:

Associate or bachelor's degree; Minimum three (3) years of food service/culinary/kitchen management/post-secondary education program recruitment, or other applicable experience; ServSafe Manager certified preferred; Experience with teaching culinary skills and supporting industry professional development; Experience with training and teaching others.

Skill Requirements:

Must be able to work effectively with clients, representing and communicating their status and progress to small groups and professionals within a network comprised of Metropolitan Ministries service providers, and applicable and related providers in the surrounding community. Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team framework; strong interpersonal and supervisory skills; strong oral and written communications skills and comfort and ability to speak in public; dependability; demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences in clients served; ability to handle job related matters in a professional, diplomatic, and confidential manner; willing to work with minimal supervision yet be able to accept direction; well organized and detail oriented. Ability to collaborate cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, and donors. Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Access, Word and Excel required. Ability to clearly communicate and uphold policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and responsibilities, while maintaining composure and ensuring excellent service and support for others; Attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines; Strong moral compass with ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.

Requires heart for ministry and comfort working with poor and homeless families and individuals. Requires understanding of poverty, a high degree of maturity, strong inter-personal skills, and the ability to work with low socio-economic and diverse populations facing crisis situations in a professional and diplomatic manner. Knowledge of community resources available to homeless population. Must demonstrate maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity. Ability to work as part of a team within a multi-disciplinary framework.

Physical Requirements:

Hearing and speaking ability, which allows for effective oral communication; physical and emotional stamina to effectively handle job related issues and stress. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing, and/or bending, lifting, listening, talking and/or visual concentration, writing and/or computer use; OSHA Standards Lifting requirements are 50 pounds and when lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load.

Other:

Must pass applicable pre-employment screening and demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Must be available to work during normal school hours and for evening meetings as required. Must pass required background pre-employment screening. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to transport self in own vehicle reliably and clients in Metro vehicle when necessary.
