Join our team as an Accounting Manager!
This is a hybrid role being onsite in Maple Plain, MN on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
The Accounting Manager's primary responsibility is to manage the monthly accounting close process for the Americas region, including leading a team of accountants to support with the close and financial reporting cycles. The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and accuracy of the Company's general ledger, ensuring financial records comply with accounting principles, regulations, and internal policies. This role involves managing month-end and year-end closing processes, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements and leading a team of accountants to maintain financial integrity.
The Accounting Manager is also responsible to manage the administration of the Company's global equity compensation program. The Accounting Manager position is actively involved in the monitoring and managing of Protolabs' finance policies, including implementation of new or modified policies, procedures, and processes. As a people manager, the Accounting Manager is responsible to lead a team of accountants and actively engage in their professional growth and development while adhering to our values to make Protolabs a great place to work.

You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions, adjustments and allocations.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop a team of accountants in support of the financial close and reporting cycles, providing guidance on best accounting practices and ensuring growth and development of a high-functioning, elite team.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and variance analyses to ensure proper financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors by providing requested documentation and addressing audit findings.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Work cross-functionally with departments such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and FP&A to streamline processes and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing historical financial data and variance explanations.
  • Manage the administration of the global equity compensation program, including fair value modeling, equity grants and vesting activities, and the Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP).
  • Manage internal control processes, including the creation and retention of documentation of process control activities, and compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures.
  • Engage in continuous improvement to drive efficiency and accuracy in financial close and reporting processes.
  • Take ownership to collaborate with other groups and/or departments to assess the reporting implications of changes in US GAAP, ensure compliance with new and/or amended standards/interpretations, coordinate changes, and ensure availability of requisite information for financial reporting.
  • Participate in other projects as required.
What It Takes:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
  • An excellent knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities while consistently delivering on time/high quality results.
  • A high degree of initiative and self-motivation.
Preferred:
  • Strong ability to translate complex technical guidance and effectively document and implement within an organization.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, including the ability to work effectively and influence key decision makers within various levels of the organization.
  • Strong people management skills, effective prioritization and delegation, and leadership ability including high focus on maintaining organization culture that fosters teamwork.

Occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
