Post-Doctoral Associate

Major Areas of Accountability (with percentages):

70% Research on identifying climatic and other factors associated with outbreaks of mountain pine beetle

20% Extension and outreach (including but not limited to writing publications for peer-review)

10% Miscellaneous (helping mentor junior graduate students, administrative)

Essential Qualifications

PhD in forestry or closely related field such as land resources

Preferred Qualifications

Have experience with bark beetles, tree defenses, and climate data
Have experience with data wrangling of meteorological data
Have experience with data analysis using data set(s) collected in collaboration with other people
Have written peer-reviewed publications and given scientific presentations
Have strong skills in pedagogy and science communication (e.g., in a classroom setting)

The Department of Entomology conducts research and educates people about the science of entomology, emphasizing the systematic, biodiversity, biology, ecology and importance of insects and their relatives in relation to human welfare, and the maintenance of a healthy environment.

Pay Range: $61,008 - $63,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
