The Opportunity

Econometrica is looking for an experienced Accounts Payable/Staff Accountant to support the accounting and finance group within the company.

We are searching for a skilled financial specialist to join our Accounting team to help process, track, and record payments in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. The AP Staff Accountant will have a daily, ongoing impact on financial transactions, keeping us on track, on time, and on good terms with our valued partners.

This position will support the company in optimizing its financial transactions and systems, strengthen and grow relationships with vendors and suppliers through timely payments, assist in streamlining and improving the accounts payable process.

You will be responsible for the integrity of the information and will assist vendors by answering inquiries. In addition, you will be responsible for processing payroll including management of the time recording system.

Responsibilities:



  • Review invoices for appropriate documentation prior to payment
  • Perform invoice and general-ledger data entry
  • Execute credit card and bank account reconciliation
  • Generate purchase orders when necessary
  • Obtain and print signatures on all checks
  • Assist senior financial officers as needed
  • Maintain organizational timecard reporting
  • Process payroll in partnership with HR
  • Keep track of all payments and expenditures, including payroll, purchase orders, invoices, statements, etc.
  • Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
  • Maintain historical records
  • Pay employees by verifying expense reports and preparing pay checks
  • Pay vendors by scheduling pay checks and ensuring payment is received for outstanding credit
  • Respond to vendor enquiries regarding finance
  • Prepare analyses of accounts and producing monthly reports
  • Continue to improve the payment process



Requirements:



  • Previous government contracting experience.
  • Strong Excel skills are required.
  • Experience and knowledge of time keeping
  • Experience and knowledge of full accounts payable cycle (processing invoices, employee expense reimbursement, getting approval, check disbursements and processing 1099s)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Well organized, strong attention to detail and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Strong ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities



Education/Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years + using Deltek Costpoint
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Professional certification are preferred

Work Environment

This position is hybrid and requires presence in the Bethesda office at least three or more days per week.

The office is located at a Metro stop in beautiful downtown Bethesda, MD, within walking distance of great restaurants and local fare. We have a typical office setting with a quiet to moderate noise level.
