Job Summary

Beazley plc is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of North America External Reporting to lead all Statutory and Regulatory Reporting for the US & Canadian entities. The successful candidate will form a close relationship with the CFO, ensuring a clear scope and framework for delivery, and will work closely with the rest of the finance team to ensure a consistent message across analytics, business planning, and more.

Key Activities & Areas of Responsibility:

Leadership Responsibilities

Develop and lead a sizeable team with a focus on customer service to provide best in class service. Ensure that all employees have the knowledge and skills necessary to perform effectively in their given roles, especially in relation to management responsibility. You will work with them to ensure effective training and coaching is provided to aid future career progression

Key Activities

  • Delivery of Reporting Services: Oversee the delivery of all reporting services for all North American platform entities, primarily Statutory & Regulatory. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Closure & Production of the accounts for both group and stand-alone statutory purposes
  • Submission of all regulatory reporting to the respective Regulators
  • Ownership of the Chart of Accounts
  • Senior Level Review: Conduct senior level reviews of US & Canadian entity outputs to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Relationship Management: Form close relationships with the CFO to ensure a clear scope and framework for the delivery of finance services.
  • Production of papers for relevant boards and committees: Produce high quality outputs that can be used within the relevant Boards and committees to support the outputs of the team. This should require minimal input from the CFO/Business Manager where the Reporting team is the owner of the paper.
  • Analytics Development: Develop a suite of analytics that can be used to support the reporting. This will be aligned with any analytics produced for the other Platforms and Group Reporting where appropriate. This analytics will support the robustness of outputs but also give the CFO support where requested.
  • Collaboration with Finance Teams: Work closely across the finance structure to ensure a consistent message across various functions, including analytics and business planning.
  • KPI Development and Monitoring: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of delivery.
  • Financial Impact Assessment: Ensure that the financial impact of key business decisions is considered and communicated effectively.
  • Team Leadership: Manage direct reports who own the production of outputs for the all North American Platform entities. The role will also be responsible for leading and acting as an SME in change activity.

Relevant qualifications and capabilities are listed as follows:

Education and Qualifications

  • Experienced qualified accountant (CPA), with post-qualified experience in insurance
  • Understanding of various accounting bases, including GAAP, IFRS, and US Statutory reporting
  • Excellent knowledge of US insurance regulatory requirements, NAIC and various state regulatory mandatory
  • Accounting and reporting concepts/theories, including experience with reinsurance accounting/risk transfer analysis, invested assets, corporate taxation, capital requirements, technical accounts, and the interaction of these

Salary for this role will be tailored to the successful individual's location and experience. The expected compensation range for this position is $180,000 - $200,000 per year plus discretionary annual bonus.
