TEKsystems is looking to hire several Fully Onsite Payroll Specialists/Clerks for a large bank in Detroit, MI! *If you have a Bachelor's degree, 4+ years of Accounts Payable and Financial Reporting experience, and are committed to be onsite M-F 9a-4p, please send your most updated resume to rsison @ teksystems.com - interviews are first come, first serve.* Description This role is responsible for managing and processing accounts payable transactions, maintaining the general ledger, and ensuring compliance with government accounting standards and policies. This role involves performing technical accounting work, examining and verifying fiscal records, assisting in the preparation of financial reports, and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clarity and accuracy in financial processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Accounts Payable: Process and post accounts payable transactions accurately in the general ledger system. Maintain detailed records of expenditures and ensure compliance with policies. Manage outgoing payments, including utility bills, maintenance agreements, and employee expense reimbursements. Recommend modifications to accounts payable policies and procedures. Communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely payments. General Ledger: Maintain general ledger and reconcile detailed accounts to general ledger controlling accounts. Prepare journal entries with proper supporting documentation. Perform general ledger period-end closing processes. Review, analyze, and reconcile various general ledger accounts. Collaborate with team members to explain variances and ensure accurate reporting. Financial Reporting: Prepare year-end financial information and reconciliations in support of audit preparation. Clearly communicate findings to management and auditors as needed. Compliance and Confidentiality: Ensure compliance with government accounting standards and policies. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial data. Communicate policy updates and compliance requirements to relevant staff when necessary. Additional Skills & Qualifications* MUST HAVES: - 4+ years of Compliance and Confidentiality, Financial Reporting, General Ledger and Accounts Payable experience Soft Skills: Strong investigative and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and cross-functionally. Excellent communication and mediation abilities. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $45.00/hr.
