Salary range:
INTERNAL RECRUITMENT TO UC DAVIS ONLY. The Pearl Stamps Stewart Professorship in Surgery provides additional funding to a current UC Davis academic appointee in the Clinical Surgery or In-Residence series. The additional funding may support the endowed professor holder in areas of teaching, research, and service directly related to the purpose of the endowment.

Position description

The holder of the Pearl Stamps Stewart Professor in Lymphedema Surgery will be a senior faculty member in the School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, whose specialty is in the area of lymphedema research.

The initial term of the Pearl Stamps Stewart Professorship in Lymphedema Surgery is for five years, with the option of reappointment per regularly established University procedures for endowed professorship appointments (APM 191, UCD 191).

The endowment payout will support the professor's efforts in research, teaching, and service and further the mission of School of Medicine, Department of Surgery and the campus.

It is expected that the holder of the endowed professorship will advance appropriately through the faculty ranks on the basis of his/her scholarly activities, teaching, University and public service.

Responsibilities of the Endowed Professor:

* The Professorship holder shall be engaged in edema research with the intent to seek the palliation and/or cure of the condition through whatever clinical, research or other activities deemed most appropriate. The fund would support, in part, the programmatic needs of the holder, including faculty and research salary support, as well as equipment and supply needs that expedite research goals of the holder.

* Collaborate with other investigators in similar and complementary interests at UC Davis.

* Provide leadership in focusing and strengthening the lymphedema program of the Department of Surgery.

* Participate as a mentor and a guide to other faculty and students pursuing lymphedema research in the Department of Surgery.

* Participate in the research training of graduate students and surgical residents.

This position is only open to current UC Davis School of Medicine faculty. This is not a change in title opportunity.

* Must be an MD

* Must have a background within lymphedema research

* Must currently hold an academic appointment in the Department of Surgery

* Strong leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills to spearhead the development of a multidisciplinary program

* Must be experienced in all aspects of Lymphedema Surgery
