Posting Summary
In this position, you will join an established researcher with a track-record of excellent publications and collaborative mentorship. The goal is to work together with other researchers, students, and staff, to help the applicant and PI mutually achieve their career objectives in a supportive, non-toxic environment. This is a two-year position supported by Rutgers University startup funds.
This position combines systems neuroscience with integrative biology approaches to focus on: 1) brain and biofluid markers of pathogenesis underlying neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's disease (AD); and 2) brain and biofluid markers of "super aging" or other forms of cognitive resilience to normal or pathological aging. The focus is on middle-aged to older adults with either an enhanced risk of AD, who have Mild Cognitive Impairment ( MCI), or who are along the AD spectrum. There are also opportunities to work on AD related dementias ( ADRD) like Parkinson's disease (PD) and PD dementia ( PDD), vascular dementia, and others.
The post-doctoral researcher will be broadly involved in neuroepidemiology work. This predominantly covers the pre- and post-processing of Magnetic Resonance (MR) images (or utilization of existing brain imaging markers), taking peripheral or central biomarkers, and regressing them against those images using ROIs or voxel-wise analyses. PET or SPECT data are also available. Initial work will focus on secondary analyses of national or international datasets, such as ADNI, PPMI, UK Biobank, NACC, possibly GAAIN, and others. It is hoped that there will be future opportunities to work on local datasets.

Overview
The Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research is a hub for multidisciplinary and translational research focused on improving population health. It builds on strong existing faculty and research infrastructure and enjoys substantial support from Rutgers Biomedical and Health Science ( RBHS). RBHS was created during the 2013 integration of the health professional schools from Rutgers University and the former University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. The eight schools, six centers and institutes and a behavioral health care network of RBHS collectively comprise one of America's largest, most comprehensive university-based centers for studying and improving human health and health care. The Institute for Health, RBHS, and the substantial resources of Rutgers University offer a rich collaborative environment for conducting pharmacoepidemiology and health services research. RBHS is home to Rutgers Health Group, New Jersey's largest multi-specialty medical group that includes the state's only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center, a large behavioral health delivery system, and Robert Wood Johnson Partners, a commercial and Medicare ACO. RBHS partners with RWJBarnabas Health, the state's largest healthcare delivery system. Research among these units expands considerably the opportunities for researchers. The Institute for Health has faculty and other researchers with considerable expertise in pharmacoepidemiology the social and clinical sciences, health research and policy, public health, and related fields. Its faculty have exceptional capacity to address the most pressing health and healthcare challenges. Considerable strength exists in the analysis of large, integrated health-related clinical and administrative datasets, national surveys, and other data. Researchers within the Institute have great depth of expertise and experience in the analysis of Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance data and the application of social science theory and advanced statistical techniques in large data sets.
