Position Title: Lab Coordinator

Location: Lake County, IL, 60064

Work Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday - Friday | 40 Hours/Week

Duration: 6+ Months (Potential for extention)


Overview:

The Lab Coordinator will support various laboratory equipment and operations functions across the R&D sites. This role acts as a central liaison between internal teams and external vendors, ensuring efficient execution of equipment selection, procurement, onboarding, service, calibration, repairs, and decommissioning. The role emphasizes cost-effective and quality-driven vendor service management tailored to lab operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary interface with vendors, OEMs, and internal service teams for lab equipment support needs.
  • Assist R&D staff in selecting and purchasing lab equipment and related services.
  • Provide administrative support throughout the full equipment lifecycle: onboarding, maintenance, repair coordination, and decommissioning.
  • Act as liaison for on-site vendor service personnel.
  • Manage incoming service requests and generate corresponding work orders.
  • Process and track work orders and contracts using the IBM Maximo system, ensuring accurate documentation of equipment status, service activities, and ownership costs.
  • Maintain warranty and service contract data within Maximo and internal Access databases.
  • Coordinate service contract renewals and conduct benefit-cost analysis based on equipment history and service performance.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to refine and improve equipment management processes.



Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree (preferred in Engineering or Science) or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Understanding of basic regulatory compliance (GxP), laboratory safety standards, and industry practices.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience with laboratory equipment, either as a lab analyst, technician, or equipment service provider.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in data entry, analysis, and reporting tools such as IBM Maximo, Cognos, and SAP.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Able to develop creative, independent solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive, team-oriented attitude and a passion for continuous improvement.
