Utilizing the Learning Management System (LMS), web tools, and mobile applications, the expert will ensure templates are flexible, user-friendly, and effective in supporting faculty in developing engaging, high-quality online and hybrid courses.

The professional expert works with considerable autonomy to ensure templates are flexible, maintain high-quality standards, and facilitate the creation of cohesive and accessible learning environments. The role demands a strong background in instructional design, with the capacity to evaluate and adapt templates to the evolving needs of faculty and students while staying current with trends in online education.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Develop Online Course Templates:

  2. Collaborate with Content Experts:
    1. Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather content and learning objectives, ensuring course materials are effectively structured for online delivery.
    2. Work with faculty to provide design recommendations that enhance the usability of the course template, while aligning with the course content and desired pedagogical approaches.
  3. Template Customization for Program-Specific Needs:
    1. Tailor templates to the unique requirements of different programs, ensuring that each template supports the learning outcomes and teaching methods of that program.
    2. Ensure that templates are flexible enough to accommodate various teaching styles and content formats while maintaining a high standard of course design.
  4. Maintain Consistency in Course Design:
    1. Develop and uphold best practices in online course design, ensuring that all templates adhere to a uniform standard for navigation, layout, and functionality.
    2. Create cohesive templates that ensure faculty and students can seamlessly navigate the course structure.
  5. Provide Expert Guidance on Course Structure and Design:
    1. Advise faculty on how to implement and modify the course templates for specific course needs, ensuring the integrity and quality of the overall design.
    2. Serve as a consultant for faculty looking to optimize their online courses using template structures.
  6. Ensure Accessibility and Inclusivity in Template Design:
    1. Design all course templates with a focus on accessibility, ensuring compliance with ADA and WCAG standards.
    2. Regularly update and refine templates to ensure they meet evolving accessibility guidelines and best practices.
  7. Support Faculty with Template Utilization:
    1. Offer ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance to faculty using the course templates, ensuring ease of use and effective implementation.
    2. Provide specific training sessions for faculty on how to adapt the templates to meet their course's objectives.
  8. Work Closely with the Educational Technology Team:
    1. Collaborate with the institution's educational technology team to ensure that course templates integrate smoothly with the Learning Management System (LMS).
    2. Work with technical teams to address any template functionality issues or technical glitches.
  9. Document Template Usage and Best Practices:
    1. Develop and maintain clear, concise documentation for faculty, outlining the steps for adapting and using course templates in the LMS.
    2. Include instructions on best practices for using the templates to ensure maximum usability and learning outcomes.
  10. Continuous Improvement of Template Design:
    1. Collect feedback from faculty about the usability and effectiveness of course templates, using this data to inform future template design improvements.
    2. Stay current with trends in instructional design and emerging technologies to ensure course templates reflect the best and most effective design practices.
